Most of the books I read are non-fiction. I lean more towards personal development, and this book was no different. I love reading books like this one, especially as I approach the big 3_OH. Tara Schuster shares her "practical guide to growing up" through a collection of essays. Throughout Buy Yourself the F*cking Lillies, Tara (or T$) tells a variety of stories about herself. Some are hilarious, some are sad, and some are just plain cringe-worthy, but all of them pieced together, tell the story of her journey of "re-parenting."
With each story, she shares her advice and rituals she’s implemented in her daily life for more stable mind, body and relationships. From journaling and meditation, to picking the perfect bra, she shares how every new ritual brought her closer to the genuinely happy ADULT she is today.
What I love most about this book is how relatable Tara is. You can really get a feel of her personality through her story tellings. Throughout the book, she becomes more and more relatable. It’s really felt like I got to know her more and more the further along I read. I guess you could say T$ and I are basically besties now. And what an inspiring and motivating bestie to have.
I recommend this book to anyone in a phase of "trying to figure it out." The author provides an outline for an interesting, but meaningful transition to a more intentional life.
